Jones and Quinerly lead Tide to win over Tennessee  73-68...

It was a remarkable comeback. The Tide was down 15 points in the second half.  The Tide pumped up the defensive volume in the second half. The Vols couldn't find an answer, and when Keon Ellis dropped in two free throws, the Tide finished a 20-point swing to win 73-68. To be technical, the Tide won the game by making 16-19 free throws. Alabama made the freebies when they mattered most. In the second half Jahvon Quinerly, Herb Jones, and Keon Ellis all made big shots. Jones, who had 21 points and 13 rebounds to control the Tide offense in the last 20 minutes. Quinerly worked his magic on the inside speed and quickness.

Quinerly played a great game.

But it was Jones who led the Tide to the win. If you watched the game it is easy to understand why Jones is valuable to the Tide. Tennessee kept Alabama out of the big shot offense, but once again Alabama showed the basketball world they are about more than three point baskets. Alabama turned the corner in the second half with a defensive chance. Jones was given the assignment of defending K. Johnson. In the first half Johnson had 16. In the second half he had only four. That was big for the Tide. Alabama didn't hit the three-ball but they fought and scraped for anything they could make. They made enough to win.

Alabama will play LSU in the final. The Tigers beat Arkansas 78-71.
