JOHNSON LOST HIS TEAM AT MID-SEASON ACCORDING TO AL.COM...

According to Al.com, the Crimson Tide players lost confidence in their head coach around mid-season. That coincides with the total collapse of the Crimson Tide basketball team which lost eight of their last eleven games. Many of the losses were embarrassing. "Toxic" was team used by Joseph Goodman who reported the situation and used that team to describe the atmosphere in the Tide locker room. His source was described merely as "I have been told." He also reported that Trendon Watford had eliminated Bama as his team of choice due to Johnson's inability to establish a winning culture in the Alabama program. If true, it is a damning report regarding Coach Johnson.

Johnson is asking 6 million dollars upfront for his contractual 'buy-out' clause. It is reported that Johnson and Alabama are discussing how to end the relationship. Alabama has made no official statement. The search for a new head coach is underway. We have previously talked about the commitment to college basketball at Alabama. I have three men I'd like to see interviewed for the job as the head basketball coach position.  Eric Musselman at Nevada, Thad Matta, one-time head coach at Ohio State, and Kelvin Sampson who has coached at Oklahoma. I also think that some effort should be made to see if Rick Pitino might be interested.

According to a source close to the program - The main source of discontent was the inability to give some players offensive schemes that were successful
